Lifer

I suspect that I will be one. A lifer, that is. Slave to fashion, addict to thrift. I just love clothes, jewelry, and all things ornamental. And I refuse to buy them new or pay top dollar for them. Virtually everything in my closet is secondhand and if it wasn't secondhand, it was clearance. There are very few items I'll buy new (yes, undergarments are in this category, and usually a decent pair of fall boots) but most other items I buy secondhand or even at dollar stores. I also sew and make items.

I started this blog mainly for myself (a type "A" personality that doesn't need even ONE more creative project on the backburner) but maybe I'll get to the point of sharing. I suppose that categorizing and highlighting all of my great thrifting finds and outfit combos is just the perfect compulsive cherry on top of an already delicious hoarding fantasy. :)

But really...I hope that maybe I can create a scrapbook for myself and others that has interesting snippets, fodder for fashion, and highlights of some of the neater things I run across and how I utilize them. Take for example one of my absolute all time thrifting finds:

(outfit in the picture) the navy blue and white striped knit dress (LL Bean) that I bought for two dollars at Goodwill. God, I love this thing. I've worn the hell out of it the last few years. I love pairing it with everything...sometimes a red belt and red heels, boots and a cardigan, or as pictured here, with a cute little GAP suit vest that my best girlfriend gifted me after picking it up on clearance (she got it for a few dollars, which makes me very happy). That wacky green wooden necklace with a gold strip was something I picked up at a bizarre dollar store down the street that carries all kinds of overstock jewelry. I've bought so many pieces I love there.
